AQUILA AQUALINEA NATURAL SPRING WATER PERFECTLY SUITS THE NEEDS OF THE DRINKING REGIME- NEW

Aquila Aqualinea natural spring water perfectly suits the needs of the drinking regime. It springs from the virgin nature around Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary) and its origin guarantees its extraordinary consistent quality. In its non-carbonated version, Aquila Aqualinea is even recommended by the Czech Medical Chamber as water suitable for infants.

Carlsbad Aquila Aqualinea contains essential elements, such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Besides moisture, when drinking Aquila Aqualinea natural water we also receive minerals that among others stimulate the activity of our muscles and the nervous system, helping us to recharge our missing energy. Owing to a very low content of sodium, Aquila Aqualinea prevents the retention of water in the body, thus contributing to the excretion of unnecessary substances.

WHAT MINERAL WATER SHOULD WE DRINK? - NEW

What mineral water should we drink? The answer to this question is not open-and-shut, as every person has different requirements and needs. Nevertheless, experts agree on the fact that in order to function properly, the human body needs both a sufficient volume of liquids as well as a well-balanced supply of all vital mineral substances. On the contrary, deficiency and sometimes even an oversupply of both may cause the body harm. Mineral waters with a well-balanced level of minerals are suitable for long-term consumption.

Tests of bottled water have proven that namely Mattoni mineral water meets these requirements. It has a beneficial content of sodium, calcium, and magnesium that must be imparted to the body under more intensive physical strain. Thus, thanks to its composition it is suitable for favourers of an active lifestyle, whose sports activities and jobs require more motion. We can also recommend it during warm summer days when we tend to perspire. For people with high blood pressure as well as those in the postmenopausal age category magnesium present in Magnesia mineral water is especially beneficial. However, long-term and regular intake of this mineral water we cannot recommend to everyone. Those with kidney disorders as well as people with demonstrated magnesium deficiency should consult their physician about its consumption. In some cases, it is more suitable to replenish the necessary substances by medication or nutritional supplements since the amount of magnesium received may be precisely determined.

On a daily basis, we should drink approximately 0.5 - 1 litre of mineral waters, representing about one third of the total volume intake of beverages. In the total volume of the consumed liquids, mineral waters should be supplemented with other beverages with a low share of minerals (i.e. herb tea, thinned fruit juice). Research has shown that in the long term may a low intake of mineral substances can impair mineral and water metabolism. It is vital to supply minerals to the body by drinking mineral waters or by adding fruit and vegetables to our diet.

IMPORTANT MINERALS

During physical exertion and particularly in hot weather, it is desirable to ensure the supply of drinks containing potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. A good proportion of these element ions is found in mineral waters, such as Mattoni or Magnesia, for example. For about an hour after you finish a physical activity, you should take in liquids - but not more than a litre or so. The intake of potassium and magnesium is important particularly for those suffering from muscle cramps.

Water in the Human Body

If the organism lacks water, it will mobilise the so-called thirst centre. The hypothalamus responds to changes in the chemical and the physical parameters of body fluids, primarily in the blood and the cerebrospinal fluid. The thirst centre sets off the alarm primarily upon an increase in fluid density. The centre is also closely connected to the kidneys.

At birth, our body is literally full of water. Water forms more than 70 percent of our body weight. In adult life, water represents 40 to 60 percent of one’s body weight. 65-75 percent of muscle weight and about 50 percent of body fat weight is water.

One to one-and-a half litre of fluids is eliminated from the body every day through the kidneys. 350 millilitres of water per day evaporates via the skin (so-called invisible perspiration). 500 - 700 millilitres of water is sweated out per day. During endurance sports (particularly in a hot environment), the loss of fluids is 1 - 1.5 litres per hour. Water is also breathed out, some 250 - 350 millilitres per day. In addition, one to two decilitres of water is eliminated from the body with faeces - this volume rapidly increases during illness (1,500 to 5,000 millilitres).

WE DRINK FOR HEALTH, EVEN IF WE ARE NOT THIRSTY

It is not necessary to persuade anyone much about the fact that we should drink a lot. Yet, usually, we often drink a little and in single doses and then only when we feel thirst. "This is incorrect. We should drink regularly, even if we are not thirsty. The body needs a sufficiency of water because a large quantity of water is also eliminated from the body. Therefore, it is essential to replenish it continuously, " says Dr. Jakub Malý, a internal specialist from Prague. His words are confirmed by an endocrinologist from the Meditcentre in Beroun, Dr. Václav Šmejkal. He thinks water is present in every cell of the body, but its content in different tissues varies.

The body is mainly water

"The total water quantity depends on the age and the body composition. With the majority of adults, water makes up approximately 60% of the body weight and 70% of the active body mass. With aging, the water ratio decreases. If at birth water makes up 75%, in the senior years it's only 55%," Dr. Šmejkal states. Adding that the average daily loss of an adult individual, who has a sedentary job in normal temperature, roughly represents 2,5 - 3 litres of fluids. "By breathing we lose about half a litre, in perspiration another half a litre, and a litre and a half with stool and urine. About half a litre of water is present in food and about half a litre of the so-called metabolic water is generated by our metabolism. We need to intake at least a litre and a half to supplement the remaining part," the doctor underlines. According to professor Zdeněk Dienstbier, Chairman of the League against Cancer, it is sometimes necessary to drink more, namely in feverous conditions, after a saltier meal and in the case of oncology patients, in the course of radiation treatment. "Aging people lose the feeling of thirst. Thus, they could suffer from an excessive loss of body fluid. We advise them to drink in regular time intervals, that means according to a daily beverage intake schedule," Dienstbier says. The doctors agree that the choice of beverages may be varied, although plain water or mineral water are the best, e.g. Mattoni. Light tea or thinned fruit juices are also suitable.

Children should not drink sweet soft drinks

In the course of the day, children should drink about a litre and a half of fluids. "Unfortunately the composition of these fluids is not good, nor is their distribution during the day," deems a paediatrician from Prague, Hana Cabrnochová. She pointed out that as a rule children drink very little in the morning until lunchtime, when at school. "We try to explain to the schools that the drinking regime is vitally important for the children. Some schools have organised drinking breaks and urge children to drink even if they are not thirsty. A child should not drink sweet soft drinks or just one type of its favourite beverage. The beverages should be varied and should alternate plain as well as mineral water, light juices and milk, " Cabrnochová concludes.

Minerals are important

Every water that we drink should include some important elements, by the contents of which we recognize its quality. Doctor Šmejkal thinks that these namely are the vital elements, such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, and sulphur. For example, magnesium is necessary for some enzymes, potassium is important for muscle activity and for the transfer of nerve impulses, calcium forms a part of the bones and teeth, and sodium is the main ion of the extracellular fluid and a significant component of perspiration. Sulphur is essential for some proteins and processes associated with energy transfer. According to doctor Šmejkal, drinking water should not contain harmful substances, e.g. nitrates; their quantity should be kept at a minimum.

Bubbles are not harmful

Many people also think that drinking beverages with bubbles (carbonated) is not advisable. "The truth is that they improve the activity of the gastrointestinal tract and they have an overall stimulating effect and moreover, they improve the activity of the lungs," doctor Václav Šmejkal states. Some more sensitive people experience discomfort from carbon dioxide, generating a feeling of a full stomach. That is why it is up to each and everyone to try out which water is suitable for him or her, whether carbonated or non-carbonated water. And what about drinking while eating? "It is true that satiety is also induced by the growth of the stomach span, which is achieved by a large quantity of fluids. On the other hand, adequate mixing with fluids improves digestion. Thus, smaller amounts of intaken fluids during meals is favourable. This problem is topical especially with children, whose parents allow them to drink only after finishing their meal," doctor Šmejkal explains. The temperature of the beverage we drink should not deflect from room temperature. We should pay attention to this and avoid extremely cold or hot beverages. They seemingly satisfy our thirst, but this is merely a subjective feeling. "Let's drink for our health and conform our drinking regime to this rule. Let us try to post ourselves the question of how much we have drunk today and let us confront our answer with the fact that we should intake approximately two or three litres of fluids each day…", concludes the internal specialist Jakub Malý.

THE INCIDENCE OF DIGESTIVE DISEASES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC MAY BE INFLUENCED BY DIETS

The incidence of digestive system diseases has been increasing in all civilised countries, including the Czech Republic. Apparently, this is a result of the higher average age of the population and of a changed diet, thus also a result of malnutrition and a bad diet. These are diseases that many people suffer from, diseases that deteriorate their quality of living. Although they cause considerable rates work incompetence, they comparatively rarely cause disabilities in people. Additionally, these adverse conditions are not only acute but also chronic, complicating the lives of those afflicted in the productive age.

In the Czech Republic, digestive system diseases ranked in the last decade in third and fourth place as a cause of work incompetence and by the number of days of absence for illness, respectively. In terms of statistics, they were the first and the third cause of hospital cases in men and in women, respectively. In the aspect of age, the biggest number of terminated cases of work incompetence was found among those below thirty years of age. However, only every 12th - 13th disability pensioner retires due to a disease of digestive system. Diseases of the digestive system caused death roughly in 4% of the cases in the past decade.

Some diseases of the digestive system are also of a particular consequence economically. For example, the gastric ulcer incidence in autopsy findings is 5-10% whereas it is a complaint of 2% of the population. In 1996, for example, there were 72.03 and 55.24 new cases of digestive system tumours found in men and women, respectively, per 100,000 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. The rate of cancer of the intestines is alarming.

The incidence of cancer may be stopped by a change in bad nutritional habits, by the addition of fibre and the reduction of animal fats and carbohydrates, by a return to natural eating, by quality sources of liquids and by mineral waters that stimulate the metabolism (Mattoni, Magnesia). The adjustment of your diet will produce a direct effect on the incidence and on the course of functional digestion disorders (at least a half of patients come to a gastroenterologist´s office with these complaints). Approximately 20% of the population share exactly the same complaints.

MAGNESIUM AND VITAMIN C

When resources of vitamin C are replenished by consumption of citruses, the magnesium content in the body may decrease, particularly in winter when the selection of vegetables is less varied. Citrates together with magnesium and calcium form soluble salts, increasing their secretion. Therefore, it is highly recommended, particularly in winter, to complement meals with mineral water with sufficient content of magnesium (such as magnesia). Stress also makes magnesium shift from cells to the bloodstream and promotes accelerated magnesium secretion. . Magnesium deficiency will result in increased secretion of adrenal hormones - adrenaline and noradrenaline (so-called stress hormones): secretion of magnesium in the urine increased as much as 20-times showed an experiment. An insufficient supply of magnesium will increase the undesired effect of stress on the human organism. As a preventive measure, it is recommended to drink suitable mineral water, such as Magnesia. Magnesium deficiency is also caused by some pathological conditions, e.g. parathyroid glands hypofunction, decrease of re-absorption in kidney tubules, intestinal diseases, stomach and part of intestine resection, pancreatitis and prolonged treatment employing dehydrating medicaments (diuretics, digitalis etc). Regular consumption of Magnesia provides natural prevention of these conditions because the magnesium acts in combination with other essential components of the mineral water. There is an important lesson drawn from treating civilisation diseases: diabetes is accompanied with increased loss of magnesium through urine. Diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes complications are correlated to hypomagnesaemia. Most of magnesium is excreted through the bowels while only some is excreted through urine. The amount in urine will somewhat increase if easily absorbable magnesium salts are administered. In the bloodstream magnesium is partly dissolved and dissociated, partly bonded. The magnesium content in the cells is crucial.

WHAT TO DRINK WHEN EXPERIENCING UROLITHIASIS

Urolithiasis is a comparatively common disease and unfortunately there are some incorrect ideas about the disease circulating among the general public. There is general knowledge of a diet based on sufficient intake of liquids being the foundation of any therapy and preventive action with light forms of urolithiasis when the stones are small, moving and there is no risk of blocking the urinary tract outlet. . We not only prescribe emergency drinking cures but we also see to the patient to drink in a continuous, even pace, not only during the day but also at night, a total of about two litres. The waters from the Karlovy Vary region, stimulating appropriate urination, non-caloric and containing the essential mineral substances are recommended highly recommended in combination with herbal teas. To select a specific mineral water, it is extremely important to be sure what types of stones are involved and what their composition is. A false presumption that any mineral water drunk in sufficient quantities will be beneficial to a person may have counterproductive effects.

In principle, there are two groups of concrements and each of them requires a completely different approach in view of dietetics. One group includes calcium oxalate stones or phosphate ones with a positive ion of calcium and composed mostly of calcium oxalate, oxalic acid salts (or phosphoric acid salts if any). Where these stones are found a strict ban on consumption of alkaline mineral waters and waters containing a great amount of calcium. The second group includes concrements formed by organic substances, primarily by uric acid salts, cystin and xanthin. These are urate and cystin stones. Here, contrary to the case described before, the alkaline mineral waters contribute to maintaining the urine alkaline reaction and they are fully recommended and so is milk that should be restricted with the phosphate stone. Mattoni acidulous water is a classical mineral water prescribed to those with urate and cystin stones. The diet should feature reduced proportion of any food containing purines that is any meat products.

CARDIOVASCULAR ATTACK

A fit of angina pectoris (cardiac pain) is a traumatic experience for anybody suffering from the coronary vessels disease - vasoconstriction. As a result of compensatory response and a change in the intracellular hormones control, the electrolyte content between the interior and the surface of the cell will shift. The response is triggered by adrenaline, the increased secretion of which in the body is related to the stress. It will trigger the human body's fight-or-flight response, a very basic and ancient response within us. The function of the sodium-kalium pump is disturbed as a result of a change in the voltage on the cell membrane. That will induce an accelerated release of magnesium ions from the cells. The release is a critical agent of the stress response as a whole because the cell membrane contains an ATP enzyme that is unable to manage without magnesium in its action (provision for the cell pump orderly run). The smaller the magnesium content in the cells, the greater the imbalance of the cell pump providing for the exchange of nutrients between the cells and intercellular fluid. The latest research indicated that magnesium is a kind of stress blocker. The mortality rate of people who suffered myocardial infarct and have been taking Magnosolv (concentrated magnesium in medicinal form), is lower than of those who have not been taking any magnesium. As the stress loads at everybody's occupation has been proven to grow, we should be mindful to increase intake of magnesium in daily meals (leaf vegetables, mineral water such as Magnesia). Professionals at hazardous work positions should have magnesium added at the times of increased loads -15 mmol of magnesium ions per day (bags of granulate).

There are approximately 242 (nejasné množství z originálu???)-2 grams of magnesium in the human body. An average daily demand is about 400 mg. When adrenaline is released at an increased rate (under stress), consumption increases to 600 mg per day.

NATURAL SOLUTIONS TO GASTROINTESTINAL PROBLEMS

Gastrointestinal system diseases rank as one of the most frequent health ailments. Included in the treatment of the complaints are the dietary therapy, medication, surgical therapy if required and primarily spa treatment. It is Karlovy Vary that is renowned for the tradition of the gastrointestinal diseases spa treatment, both domestically and over the world.

The Mlýnský pramen (Mill Spring) curative mineral water, being one of twelve medicinal thermal springs of the colonnades of Karlovy Vary, is appropriate for a drinking cure under domestic conditions. The drinking cure has proved to be most helpful, particular to cure diseases of the gallbladder (chronic cholecystitis, biliary tract mobility disorders), liver, pancreas and plexus splanchinus dysfunction, diabetes, gastric catarrhs, constipation and other bowel movement disorders.

The Mlýnský pramen medicinal mineral water is recommended as an alternative to the Karlovy Vary Spring Salt as their effects are comparable. This mineral water is particularly suitable in treating constipation, since it aids in having regular bowel movements and it results in a long-term decrease of blood cholesterolaemia and also in a decrease of incidence of malignant tumors in the large intestine.
